Princeton Theological Seminary is pleased to announce the appointment of the Rev. Dr. John Huh as the Bryant M. Kirkland Dean of the Chapel and Vice President for Student Life. This is a new position that will provide leadership for the student life department through the chapel.
Dr. Huh is a graduate of Princeton Seminary with both his MDiv and a PhD in pastoral theology. For the last twelve years, Dr. Huh has served as one of the three founding pastors of the New Mercy Community Church, which is a multicultural congregation in Hackensack, New Jersey. Dr. Huh has guided a flourishing ministry with this congregation in a team leadership model, with a vision to be “The Church for the Broken.” In addition, he has served as an adjunct professor at New Brunswick Theological Seminary and Princeton Seminary, where he has taught numerous pastoral counseling courses. He has also been a frequent lecturer in the Seminary’s Continuing Education course offerings, and has established a non-profit counseling organization that specializes in working with Asian American communities.
He describes himself as “an extrovert by nature, a counselor by training, and a pastor at heart.” His hobbies include playing basketball, golf and board games with loved ones. He is ordained as a Minister of Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church (PCUSA) and has worked ecumenically throughout his ministry. He is committed to leading an inclusive community of students that is centered in Jesus Christ.
